What's in your kitchen
Everything you add to Bocal is your kitchen: the foods, how much is left and when they turn, the shopping list, the meal plan, your recipes and what you've eaten. It's kept on your iPhone.
The first time Bocal opens, you choose On This Phone or In Your iCloud. With iCloud, your kitchen is also kept in your own iCloud, under your Apple ID, so it's there on a new phone too. Either way, it isn't sent to Bocal's developer or to anyone else.
No account
There's no Bocal account and nothing to sign up for. iCloud works with the Apple ID already on your iPhone, and you can switch syncing off in Bocal's Settings at any time.
Ask
What you type or say to Ask is worked out on your iPhone. When you speak to it, your words are turned into text on the phone itself. Reading a recipe from a link fetches that page, and nothing else.
Receipts
When you scan a receipt or choose a photo of one, Bocal reads it on your iPhone. The photo never leaves the phone. Bocal needs the camera only while you're scanning, and asks before it uses it.
Ads and tracking
Bocal has no ads and doesn't track you. Nothing you do in it is used to sell you anything, here or anywhere else.
If something goes wrong
In Settings, under About, Export Diagnostics makes a text file of what Bocal has noted since it was opened: its states, counts and error codes, never what you typed. It stays on your iPhone unless you choose to send it with a problem.
Paying for Bocal
The subscription is handled by Apple through the App Store. Bocal never sees your name, address or card. Apple only tells Bocal whether your subscription is active.
Removing your kitchen
Your kitchen on your iPhone goes with the app. To remove it everywhere, open Settings in Bocal and choose Delete Your Kitchen: it removes your foods, list, recipes and plan from your iPhone and from your iCloud.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date. Questions about privacy go to privacy@bocalapp.com.
